      The Rollright Stones was another spot which we found on a British travel show on US tv. It consists of three separate sets of ancient stones, the oldest from about BC. The others from BC and the newest from BC. They are located near the road and you can park and /5().   The Rollright Stones are a group of prehistoric megalithic monuments built from large natural boulders found within about m of the site. The stones are naturally pitted, giving them extraordinary shapes. The legend goes that a king and his army were marching over the Cotswolds when they met a witch, who addressed the king.

      I'd say it's an unrealistic expectation, to visit any of these places and have them to yourself. GO see the stones, but don't get wrapped up in what others are doing there. The stones are special enough in their own right, and I've felt lucky and privileged to see them when I've had the chance to. The Rollright Stones were the location for one of the Tom Baker Doctor Who stories, in the Key to Time sequence - and it really was impossible to count the stones accurately then, because the BBC added a few!
